How to Apply Fake Nails Like a Professional Nail Artist ( Simple and quick guide )
If your nails don't grow long or growing nails is an impossible challenge for you - now you can. Applying fake nails at home is quick and easy, and gives you the neatest finish you can dare.
In fact, until recently, I hadn't been one to do my own nails for years. I have been loyal to the same manicurist for a long time and visit her once every month, without fail. I didn't miss a single appointment!
But due to financial problem I had to face, it was difficult for me to go to the nail salon. So I had no choice but to learn how to apply fake nails like a pro.
Eventually I started researching the best fake nails by hearing from a few people who had used fake nails. I was skeptical at first, because I've never tried the print or paste option before.
But let me tell you first: Maybe I'm wrong. And I honestly want to say that those fake nails are much prettier than my real nails.
How to Apply Fake Nails

In my experience, clutch nails last 1-2 weeks. The good thing is that you can reuse the kit multiple times as long as you take care of them and follow the instructions on how to remove the nails properly (which I will explain to you later in this article..)
How to Apply Fake Nails: Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1 – Remove any previous polish
First you need to make sure that you have removed all traces of the previous polish from your nails. Any messy surface will cause artificial nails to fall off easily.
Step 2 – Soak your nails
Soak your nails in warm water for approximately 5 -10 minutes. This will soften your nail beds and the skin surrounding your nails.
Step 3 – Neaten your nails
Your skin will now be soft and slightly supple. Next, push the hanging skin down using a cut stick to expand the surface of the nail. This stage will not be painful as the warm water will also numb it.
Step 4 – Cut your nails
Cut your nails short using nail clippers/scissors. This will prevent the natural nails from growing out of the fake nails too quickly, keeping them neat and fresh for longer.
Step 5 – File your nails
File your nails so that they are round, not square. This further ensures that no drag will show when the fake nails are applied.
Step 6 – Pick your nail size
You now have a hygienic, dry surface to begin applying your fake nails. Compare the fake nails against your natural nails to ensure you have the right size for each.
Step 7 – Secure in place
Add a few drops of nail glue to the bottom half of the fake nail or to your nail. Avoid applying it to the top half of the fake nail as you may cut off this part after you shape your fake nails.
Step 8 – Hold in place and Add to a pop of colour
Now it is time for you to be creative. Pick any colour polish and paint your fake nails. You can remove and paint nail polish as you would your normal nail. Add a clear gloss to create a salon manicured look.
How to Make Fake Nails Stay on Longer
The most important things to know about this:
- Always wash your hands and nails thoroughly first.
- Never apply a cream or cuticle oil before applying.
- Sweep a cotton pad with alcohol on it along the nail to ensure any remaining oils are removed.
- Gently buff the nail bed.
- Make sure the fake nail is the appropriate size for your own nails (and file it if it’s not)
- If the nail is too large for your natural nail, it will pop off very easily.
- Press down and hold tightly once the nail is applied to ensure that moisture isn’t able to get underneath.
How to remove fake nails?
There are a number of ways to remove fake nails without damaging your nails. This can be done without damaging the nails.
1.) Soak nails in warm, soapy water for 15-20 minutes until nails start to loosen.
2. Using a cuticle pusher, carefully lift up the edge of the nail.
